How Your Boerboel Puppy Reaches Florida
- 01
We raise every puppy at our kennel in Portugal and work with a specialized transport company that handles the travel, the logistics and the documents. You do not have to organize anything for the trip to Florida.
- 02
The steps are simple. You tell us about your family, reserve your puppy with a 20% deposit of €700 and pay the balance of €2,800 when you select your puppy. We help you choose by temperament, energy and confidence, not only by color or size. While your puppy grows, we keep you updated.
- 03
Close to the travel date, the transport company contacts you with the travel plan and the final quote. Depending on the case, your puppy flies with an escort or as air cargo, with its vet report and the documents for the trip. In Florida, you pick it up at the airport or choose home delivery.

Heat and Humidity: Caring for a Boerboel in Florida
Florida has hot, humid summers and mild winters. High humidity often pushes the heat index above 105 °F, and summer afternoons and evenings bring thunderstorms almost every day.
The Boerboel is a hardy dog from South Africa and copes well with heat, but a Florida summer still needs good management:
- Indoor rest, shade and fresh water are the base of the day.
- No intense exercise in extreme heat. Walk and train in the cooler hours.
- After rain, dry your dog, and give it non-slip surfaces when floors are wet.
- Watch puppies and older dogs more carefully, and call your veterinarian if something worries you.
Florida also sees hurricanes. A puppy that is used to a crate, introduced as a calm, safe place and never as punishment, is easier to keep calm and safe when the family has to change its routine.

Indoor Life, Apartments and Condos in Florida
Can a Boerboel live in a Florida apartment, a condo or a home with a small yard? Sometimes, yes, but not automatically. It depends on the temperament of the dog and on the routine of the owner, more than on square footage.
Apartment life means elevators, narrow hallways, neighbors, delivery people and other dogs in shared spaces. A stable Boerboel with good early socialization learns to see all of this as normal life. Elevators are small, enclosed spaces, so your Boerboel must learn to enter calmly and stay quiet when people get in or out. It needs structured walks, not only quick bathroom breaks, basic obedience in real places, a "place" command at home and rest periods where it learns to switch off.
We explain it in detail in can Boerboels live in apartments and can Boerboels live indoors. Travel can affect appetite and digestion, even in a confident puppy, so keep the first days simple when your puppy arrives: let it rest, drink, explore calmly and settle into the new routine, with no sudden change of food. Our guide to the best food for Boerboel puppies explains how to feed for slow, steady growth.
