What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Contact forms

When you send an enquiry, reservation request or application through a form on this website, the details you enter (such as your name, email address, phone number and message) are sent directly to our own customer management system and stored there so we can reply to you and manage your request. The form runs an automated spam-protection check.

We use this information only to respond to you and to handle your request.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

Privacy choices and optional technologies

We use a small first-party cookie called rnpc_consent to remember your privacy choices for 180 days. It contains only your choices, a version number and a timestamp. It does not identify you.

Visitors from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and other regions outside the United States are asked before any optional technology (Analytics or External Media) is used, and nothing optional runs until they choose. Visitors in the United States can use the site without a banner: analytics and external media are on by default and can be turned off at any time, and we honor Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals by turning analytics off. We determine which rules apply from your browser’s time zone setting; we do not use IP-based location lookups for this.

You can review or change your choices at any time using the Privacy Choices link at the bottom of every page. If you turn a category off, it stops loading on the following pages and we delete the related first-party cookies where technically possible.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

On this website, embedded videos are provided by YouTube (Google) in privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com), the map on our Contact page by Google Maps. Live chat runs on our own customer management system. Where consent is required, these services are not loaded until you allow “External Media”, either in Privacy Choices or by clicking “Allow and view” on the placeholder. Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 (provided by Google) to understand how visitors use our website, for example which pages are viewed, how long visits last, which website referred the visit, the device type and the approximate location (country or city). This helps us improve the website. Google Analytics runs only after you allow “Analytics” (for visitors in the United States, until you turn it off in Privacy Choices or your browser sends a GPC signal). Google signals and advertising features are turned off, and we do not use analytics data for advertising.

Analytics data is kept according to our Google Analytics retention setting (no longer than 14 months). You can also use Google’s opt-out browser add-on. Google privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy.

Text messages (SMS)

If you enter your mobile number on one of our website forms and tick the separate SMS consent box (it is never ticked for you), Elite Boerboels (The Wagging Way LLC) collects your mobile number and a record of your consent. We use them only to text you about your inquiry: replies to your questions, availability updates you asked for, reservation and shipping or delivery updates, and appointment reminders.

Message frequency varies with your inquiry. Msg & data rates may apply. Consent to receive text messages is not a condition of purchase.

You can opt out at any time by replying STOP to any of our messages; we will confirm and send no further texts. Reply HELP for help, or email us at info@eliteboerboels.com. You can also ask us to stop texting you by email.

We do not sell, rent or share your mobile number, SMS opt-in data or consent with third parties or affiliates for their marketing or promotional purposes. They are only processed by the service providers that deliver our messages for us, and only to send them. See our SMS consent page for details.

Who we share your data with

We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral (targeted) advertising. We share personal information only with service providers that help us run this website and our business: Google (analytics, YouTube videos and maps), SiteGround (website hosting) and NitroPack (website performance and content delivery). These providers may process data outside your country, including in the United States and the European Union.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
