Lake-Effect Snow and Humid Summers: Ohio Weather for a Boerboel
Ohio has real winters. Typical winter lows go from under 20 °F in the north to the mid-20s in the south. Snow varies a lot: the northern part of the state gets 60 inches or more a year and the southwest less than 12, while along the southeastern shore of Lake Erie, lake-effect snow brings some places over 100 inches a year.
Summer highs usually sit between the upper 70s and the mid-80s °F, but in cities such as Cincinnati and Columbus, heat combined with high humidity can still create dangerous heat index values. Ohio has also seen more heavy rain events of 2 inches or more since the middle of the 20th century.
Boerboels are robust and handle cold and heat well. Good habits for an Ohio year:
- Bring your Boerboel inside to rest and sleep, above all in cold and wet weather.
- After rain, dry your dog and keep floors from becoming slippery.
- On humid summer days, avoid hard exercise in the heat and keep water and shade close.
- Watch young puppies and older dogs more closely, and talk to your vet about any concern.
Yards, Farms and Suburbs: Making Room for a Boerboel in Ohio
A securely fenced yard is a real help for a Boerboel, wherever you live in Ohio. It gives your dog a safe place to move and relax outside. It is not a place to leave a dog for the day: Boerboels do not like long periods completely alone, and an isolated dog can become bored, noisy or reactive.
If you have land, plan the dog's life around the house: a resting place inside, clear house rules and time with the family. If you live in a suburb, plan the walks: a Boerboel needs more than the backyard to learn calm behavior around people, dogs and traffic.
A young puppy's bones and joints are still developing, so forced running, excessive stairs and repetitive jumping should be avoided. Our feeding guide for Boerboel puppies explains how to feed for slow, steady growth.

Yes. We take care of everything for the shipping. A specialized transport company plans the trip, and you can meet your puppy at the airport or choose home delivery in Ohio.
Can a Boerboel live outside in an Ohio winter?
A Boerboel copes well with cold, but it should live and sleep indoors with its family. Indoor life protects it from cold and wet weather and keeps it close to you.

You pay the shipping directly to the transport company, at least 4 weeks before departure. Our estimate for the USA is about €1,400, and the final quote comes close to the travel date.
Is there a health guarantee for puppies shipped to Ohio?
Yes. A dog with a proven genetic disease, shown by veterinary reports, is replaced for free, as explained in our purchase policy.
